Recently quite a few people have experienced issues with Yahoo IM. If you’re like me and only use Yahoo for IM and Flickr, I never check my email account to receive any messages or updates, so I was not aware of the login server changes recently.
If you are using Yahoo IM via another client, you will need to change your login server info to: smud.msg.yahoo.com
I use Adium for my client and you can go into: Preferences>Accounts>
select your account
Click “Edit”
and alter the login server there to: smud.msg.yahoo.com
Done! Works for me.
Thanks to my coworker RJ Owens for pointing this out!
If you have ran an update to Adium after June 21, 2009, to 1.3.5 then going into the same area and leaving the server blank to reset automatically – or you can manually enter: scs.msg.yahoo.com
should work.
Active Ride Shop sells to Florida investors for $5.2 million known as Active Sports Lifestyles USA. My previous post noted that Zumiez had a bid for over $7 million, but the sources has not verified and could be rumor, like anything on the web, so they did not participate in the final bidding round.
The auction of the company was ordered by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Riverside, after Active ride Shop filed for bankruptcy. There were several other bids on the company, but all losing out to the investor group.
They do plan on maintaining all 21 store locations ad their online business and the Mira Loma headquarters.
I’ve had a couple questions come at me lately about what is Flash Builder and how does it relate to Flex now.
This is nothing too technical, just a simple explanation.
Flash builder is just Adobe’s Tool to develop Flex applications. It was formerly Flex Builder, but Adobe is attempting to unify the Flash name and branding across its tools so they changed the name. It is built on Eclipse which is a general IDE, but again, the focus is that it is simply the tool, and the Flex framework is still Flex.
The Flex framework primarily is based on MXML, a mark up language developed by Adobe. You can also use AS 3.0 to supplement the MXML. And yes, you can even tie it into other frameworks and languages such as Rails, Cold Fusion, PHP and a quite a bit more, especially if you need some server side tasks.
Flex compiles to a swf, similar to Flash, and utilizes the Flash Player in order to render it, or you can wrap it into an AIR desktop application.
An analogy is like HTML. It is a mark up language based framework for web pages. You can use a variety of tools to construct an HTML page(s), such as adobe Dreamweaver, Esspresso, Taco Edit, TextEdit, and even Notepad. You can also supplement it with Javascript. Of course, you can also tie it into the other frameworks and languages such as Rails, Cold Fusion, PHP, ASP.NET, and more. You can also use Flex and Flash to create components to embed into your web page such as video players and widgets. You can also wrap a web page into an AIR desktop application.
A lot of great new features, from MMS, copy & paste, landscape keyboard (for texting, mail, notes, Safari), spotlight search globally across your phone, Voice Memos and a few more, along with improvements to pre-existing features!
Definitely worth the FREE update and the few minutes.
This is a quick post to get the word out that I will be having an art show on First Friday, July 3, 2009* at The Funky Buddha.
This will be my first art show ever!
I know… it’s been how many years?
I have also invited my boy Paths One (Todd Hebenstreit), to join me, so this show will be like an eye orgy!
Wait, there will be pleasing sounds for the ears and dance floor with DJ Sounds Supreme and Low Key will be on the decks throwing down the beats! These are some of the BEST DJ’s in Denver. Not just because they’re my boys, but because they are proven. Also, as a fellow DJ, I know I don’t have the skillz to keep up with these guys on the decks, so give me a mic!
Please make a note of this on your calender and try to make this event!
