Denver-based telecom mogul, Qwest, needed to not only update content for their high spped internet shopping site, but they also wanted to enhance the overall experience.
Our team worked with Qwest to conduct user research and obtain relative data to the needs of the user in order to design and develop an online shopping experience that revolved around the user, yet also met the client's requirements.
Challenges on the project included working within a legacy page template and visual design themes, yet providing an updated look and feel while improving the user experience. We introduced concepts to organize and present content as the user needed it, new interactive concepts anda streamlined shoppin experience.
With the evolving and growing mobile device realm, accessibility for various audiences is also increasing. The various mediums of interaction are engaging various users from young to old, including the small children. We felt there was a need to address the multi-touch arena for young children, providing a very easy-to-use interface providing entertainment and education. It is easy to have a feature list that is overkill with these engaging technologies and systems. Smart Stacks takes a streamlined approach to ensure features and functionality are available, but also addressing the usability needs of a young user and minimize UI overload. Smart Stacks is the result of this approach.
American Greetings was searching for a way to improve their online-based photo album creator. Photoworks Studio is built in Flex and intended to integrate with an existing online photo management system and focused around a unique demographic set of "non-technical" users. We worked directly with the client's internal UX and development teams to ensure innovation, requirements, and direction was captured and successfully executed. Research data was delivered as a result of client user research and testing to help provide insight for an appropriate solution. Patents pending on this application.
TriGeo is a leader in security information management. They came to us to help them create a system that could provide indepth overviews to a large network infrastructure along with various management features. This award-winning product combines real-time log management, IT search, event correlation and endpoint security with active response for true proactive network defense.
Photobucket and Microsoft wanted to showcase the capabilities of Silverlight with an innovative and immersive application utilizing Photobucket's site content and API. This lead to an application that provided a new experience for searching photos and connecting users to results and/or other user's that they would typically not align with.
Application themes for Adobe Flex 4 SDK. Project required creating various themes to be shipped with the default SDK of Flex 4, showcasing options utilizing the various skinning/themeing approaches that Flex supports. Our team created visual designs for the themes, and performed production efforts to translate into development so they could be executed in the latest Flex 4 SDK release. This included CSS, bitmap, and programmatic MXML-based skins.
During a Microsoft Silverlight training camp, we had the opportunity to create an application to test the versatility and boundaries of Silverlight.
The concept my team came up with was an online collaborative audio step sequencer. This would allow musicians from remote locations to be able to collaborate and procude a song simultaneously no matter where the users were located. This would make a very unique musical experience and connect musicians around the world within an easy to use application.
Herff Jones is a leader in educational publishing and products such as school yearbooks. Challenges of costs for production along with software licensing for schools facing financial limitations has been on the rise. With these growing concerns, Herff Jones wanted to create an online publishing tool that would allow schools to continue using traditional style design and publishing tools, but online based for on-site or remote access for students. This required building a complex system that could handle not only familiar desktop publishing features, but aslo online content management for assets and photography. The application required an experience that would allow for quick user adoption, cater to yearbook publishing, and be able to execute a product that legacy printers could integrate into their printing systems. This tool is not only going through improvemnts for future versions, but has also become one of their largest channels of revenue surpassing numbers from the traditional printing services they offer.
An imersive online experience utilizing 3D capabilities of Flex to present a model of the Earth with the ability to display different layers of global-related data. The layers span a wide spectrum of information and data, which also allows for mulit-layered displaying, animated video layers such as cloud movements, and opacity adjustments to allow users to reveal, cross reference, and correalate the mixed data layers on the Earth.
In celebration of its new reality show hit, Say Yes to the Dress, TLC wanted to supplement their television show with an interactive experience that would not only entertain, but provide the target demographic with a useful tool representative of the show's concept. This application allowed users to select a model and customize it to their characteristics, and then have the virtual model try on a variety of wedding dresses and styles providing the user with a "digital dressing room" experience within the convenience of their browser.
Franklin Covey came to us to find a solution to improve upon a system which is used widely within the retail industry for improved new customer referrals and existing customer retainment. The application relies on a scoring system, customer feedback, and a set of retail store procedures which all contribute to the overall performance of a retail store. The new application required not only a visual facelift, but new experience archtiecture to improve the user experience and ensure a complex system like this was easy to use and understand by its wide spectrum of users.
Reknown truck manufacturer, International Truck, came to us to help them build an online custom truck configurator for their new series of trucks. Users are allowed to choose a variety of options from body paint colors, exterior elements, interior decor, and custom details. The configurator presented 360º rotational views for both the exterior and interior, so the user has an in depth experience that gave a showroom feel, but within the comfort and convenince of their browser or a kiosk at truck events.
National submarine sandwich fast food chain Quizno's wanted to create a tool to help manage business aspects to help improve sales and profits across the franchise. This required consoliating various data types from multiple locations and departments, provide correlations with analytics to provide filtered information for improved business developments and logistics. This tool aimed at finding information quickly and deterining which steps need to be taken to maintain or improve positive busines performance.
eBay Desktop is one of the first applications built in Flex and to utilize Adobe AIR technology to bring the web experience to the desktop. This new experience went through a beta phase and required a preliminary sign-up process in order to be one of the early adopters to have the prilvedge of using this ground-breaking application for one of the world's largest online auction sites. The direction required a simple, yet effective landing page to intrigue users of the new product and pull in users to sign up.
This application leveraged several technologies and services to create a user-friendly travel planning system. Integration of online services such as traffic data, weather, road conditions and mapping produced a feature rich routing system to help optimize user's travel efforts.
NBC Universal needed a new experience to provide clients and sponsors a media center that could show case upcoming television shows and line-ups. This media center provided users with a video presentation alongside details and general information about the show and its cast memebers. This tool was used internally and for select clients, which provided a direct connection to content that help lead advertising and marketing intiatives.
In the fall of 2006, Ford Motor Company required some updates and redesign to their fordvehicles.com website for the upcoming new releases. Working with a team of designers and developers, we had to make updates to legacy system of code & frameworks, and implement a new design on a very tight schedule.
